8 Weeks Starting February 14 • Online

2017 has been a bad year for many writers I know. Many of us have felt frozen, paralyzed, shut down. And yet, there is SO much to write about, the enormity of it feels at once terrifying and wonderful.

This new Inlandia online class invites you to approach the unthinkable and the impossible through weekly prompts and suggested short readings. You use these to jump off of and write…. WHATEVER. You submit a short piece (or a short piece of a longer piece) every week. Something new or something old you can’t make progress on/finish. Poem, piece of a novel, short story, essay, memoir, poem, play or hybrid text where you don’t know what the heck it is. If you shoot video and can post it on facebook, that’s fair game too. Texts with pictures and/or photographs fine. You just need to be able to work with the fb parameters.

Participants will read and react to work with short comments every week. Our last two weeks will be reserved for a more intensive mini-workshop.

Descended from Norwegian plumbers on one side, and bohemian Russian aristocrats on the other, Stephanie Barbé Hammer has published fiction and poetry including Sex with Buildings and The Puppet Turners of Narrow Interior.

Registrations are required. Workshop fee is $100. For more information or to register please visit the Writing the Unthinkable Form
