Inlandia is excited to announce a return to the Culver Center for a brand new season of conversations. Poet, author, and educator Nikia Chaney will take the stage with writer Lisbeth Coiman to discuss Chaney’s groundbreaking memoir, ladybug. Come for the conversation – and stay for the celebration! November 6 marks the official debut of ladybug, published by Inlandia Books.

Writers are encouraged to respond to prompts about universal themes related to the human condition: key relationships, physical places, historic events, personal hardships/recovery, love and loss, and personal achievement and development. "Writing for Children" with José Chavez (Beg.-Int.)
This workshop is designed to meet the needs of those who wish to write or are writing for children. We’ll explore the writing voice for children, define a “picture book,” story arc, story introductions, appropriate vocabulary, children’s poetry, and more. There will be time to flex our writing muscles and develop the beauty and strength of our “voice” for children.

"More Adventures in Food Writing" with Alaina Bixon (Int.-Adv.)
Each 90-minute workshop will include two writing prompts, with time to create a food-related story for both prompts. Topics will include food history, sustainability, nutrition and health, family stories, cookbooks, food and travel, culinary memoirs, and the politics of food. We will discuss how to submit articles for publication. “This is not for foodies; it’s for eaters!”
