Looking for a low-key way to commune with creativity this summer? Join Inlandia on a Journaling Journey in June!

Learn how to make a DIY zine, then fill it up with the alphabet and your imagination. With optional Monday through Thursdays check-ins and Friday read-arounds, you will soon be an indie author with your very own book!

Led by a team of experienced young authors under the guidance of Inlandia Institute core staff, this program is free for elementary school-aged youth.

How it works:

During the month of June, a new daily prompt will be emailed each day. Complete at your own pace! Join us for the daily check-ins or just the weekly read-arounds, or participate completely via email.

Parent/guardian registration required. If registering multiple children, only one form is required.

ASL Poetry is a FREE community enrichment workshop open to all. Registration required. Gain confidence as a poet – and get the support and resources you need to write and present poetry in ASL. Ryan Fingerle is a Deaf writer, poet, and educator whose love of words has no boundaries. One of her works, “Stuck in the Middle,” was published in the 2021 MUSE Literary Magazine. She presented her English poem “Connected” in ASL in front of a live audience for a National Deaf History and Poetry Month event. Ryan teaches English at Riverside City College, and her passion is helping adult students and their families enjoy the merits of both ASL and the English language. Writers are encouraged to respond to prompts about universal themes related to the human condition: key relationships, physical places, historic events, personal hardships/recovery, love and loss, and personal achievement and development. These ties bind us all in different stages of our lives, and each of us brings a unique perspective to every story. Maybe it's time to write yours. Space is limited. Rose Y. Monge has facilitated memoir classes at the Goeske Center since 2009. She encourages everyone to leave a written legacy for future generations. 13 1:00 pm: Riverside Women Creating Change Book Launch! 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm October 13, 2024 On Sunday afternoon, October 13, please join Inlandia at the Civil Rights Institute of Inland Southern California for the launch of Riverside Women Creating Change—Stories and Inspiration. The program runs from 1:00-3:00 PM, with doors opening at 12:30. The Riverside Resistance Revival Chorus will be on hand to perform, and CRIISC’s Homegrown Heroes exhibit—of which there is considerable overlap—will be open to our guests. Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there! Reluctant activists: Throughout Riverside's history, women have been at the forefront of community activism, but few have adopted that label. Instead, they were women simply doing what they knew was right. They were grassroots preservationists, speaking out and speaking up. They were building peace. Protecting our environment. ASL Poetry is a FREE community enrichment workshop open to all. Registration required. Gain confidence as a poet – and get the support and resources you need to write and present poetry in ASL. Ryan Fingerle is a Deaf writer, poet, and educator whose love of words has no boundaries. One of her works, “Stuck in the Middle,” was published in the 2021 MUSE Literary Magazine. She presented her English poem “Connected” in ASL in front of a live audience for a National Deaf History and Poetry Month event. Ryan teaches English at Riverside City College, and her passion is helping adult students and their families enjoy the merits of both ASL and the English language.
