On Sunday, March 27, join Inlandia as we welcome RM Ambrose and contributors to Vital: The Future of Healthcare as they read from and discuss the future of healthcare as envisioned by these innovated stories.

David Brin, New York Times bestselling author of The Postman and EARTH, writes, “A powerful story can inspire both health workers and concerned readers to take heart and believe in our ability to cope with changing times.” Brin’s story, “The Giving Plague” is featured in the anthology.

April Focus: Writing About Black Art Through an Iconographical Lens

This workshop explores writing about Black art from an iconographical perspective. Participants will learn how to analyze the content as well as the signs & symbols in selected works of African American art.

Through class lectures, Zoom discussion groups, and homework exercises, participants will learn about selected African American artists from different perspectives and produce a 350-word essay concentrating on one work of art. Time will also be devoted to peer reviews of essay drafts in Zoom discussion groups. These workshops are designed to develop marketable skills as a freelance writer writing about Black art and artists.

Since 2015, Inlandia Institute has been bringing you the best in contemporary poetry from the national scene as well as highlighting local talent. This year marks the five-year anniversary of the Hillary Gravendyk Prize, which awards two $1000 prizes annually.

On Friday April 22, 2022, the 2020 prize winners, Michael Samra of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Jonathan Maule of Joshua Tree, California, come together for the first time to share their unique poetic visions.
