4:00 pm: Revising and Submitting Your Writing for Publication with Cati Porter4:00 pm: Revising and Submitting Your Writing for Publication with Cati Porter – Alternating Fridays, June 3 – July 29, 2020 4:00-5:00 PM on Zoom Revising and Submitting Your Writing for Publication with Cati Porter FREE as part of the Inlandia Creative Writing Workshops program Registration required: https://tinyurl.com/Inlandia-Rev-Sub You have begun to tentatively call yourself a writer, but you don’t know how to take that next step and get your work published. Or you’ve been published but you need some accountability to kick start your summer submissions. Or maybe you have lots of drafts that could use some polishing, or even some dusting off if they’ve been in that proverbial desk drawer. In this workshop you will be given the tools and the time to work toward publication. Please note: This is NOT a writing workshop. It is recommended that at the start of the workshop you have no fewer than ten pieces of writing you would like to revise and submit. This workshop will meet virtually every other week for five weeks but there will also be optional coaching and mentorship via email check-ins to report on progress and office hours to work one-on-one with Cati via email, Zoom, or phone, by appointment. Inlandia Institute Executive Director Cati Porter has been publishing prose and poetry in magazines, newspapers, literary journals, and anthologies for thirty years. She is the author of ten poetry collections published with a variety of independent and nonprofit publishers. She has hosted panel discussions and roundtables on publishing, led workshops for children, teens, and adults, and conducted professional development workshops for teachers teaching poetry. She is a native of Southern California where she lives with her family. |

6:30 pm: NEW The Flame: Life's Journeys6:30 pm: NEW The Flame: Life's Journeys – Summer has arrived! Time for family vacations, long road trips, beach days, and new adventures. For those who have recently graduated, you are beginning a new chapter in life, maybe you are reflecting on the journey that led you to this moment of transition. Some of us are homebodies and prefer the “staycation.” We read, write, garden, watch Netflix. Whether you experience wanderlust or are an aspiring hobbit, we all experience change brought about by cycles of beginnings and endings. These are the stories of what makes us who we are. The Flame would love for you to share the story of your life's journey with us this July. The Flame is a thee-part workshop and live storytelling event. We work together as a group to assist each other in enhancing our storytelling skills, which culminates in a live performance. This July, The Flame returns in person! All three workshops plus the final event will be at Riverside Studios. Spaces are limited, so please reach out as soon as possible to sign up to participate. All participants must be available for all four dates and times. To submit for participation, please send an email to Stevie Taken (stevietaken@gmail.com) with a short (1-2 paragraphs) summary of the story you would like to share. All stories must be true (of course, we all take some creative licensing. Don't worry, we’re not following up with an investigation or fact checking. We’re storytellers, not journalists)! Stories must in the first person, and have happened to you!
