July 7, 2019RSVP required for this encore presentation. To reserve a seat email: inlandia@inlandiainstitute.orgThe Inlandia Institute is responding to popular demand with this encore presentation by Luis Fuerte, award winning cameraman and author of Louie, Take a Look at This!: My Time with Huell Howser (Prospect Park Books, 2017).Based on his years working with Huell Howser on California’s Gold, Fuerte’s book embraces the dissimilarities between Fuerte’s and Howser's personalities and backgrounds. Fuerte attributes the pair’s onscreen chemistry to this diversity, attributing their success in large part to that interplay. As well as the stories of everyday people and those behind the scenes of much that is magic in California, Fuerte makes insightful observations about Huell. “I came to realize that he was genuinely and deeply interested in the people he interviewed and their personal stories. He was truly fascinated with his discoveries, from the stupendous to the downright ordinary. They all mattered to him.”This event will take place at the Culver Center of the Arts located at 3824 Main Street, on July 7th at 1:30pm.About Luis Fuerte:Luis Fuerte is the five-time Emmy-award-winning former cameraman for the Huell Howser show California's Gold. The son of a Mexican immigrant, Fuerte was born in San Bernardino, CA and became a cameraman after two years in the US Navy and learning TV engineering at L.A. Valley College. After 48 years in television, he's now retired and lives with his wife in Rialto, CA.POETS IN PAJAMAS PRESENTS EPISODE 57: MALCOLM FRIENDPOETS IN PAJAMAS PRESENTS EPISODE 57: MALCOLM FRIEND

July 7, 20197 PM EST/4 PM PST, July 7, 2019—Take a break from the fireworks and summer heat to enjoy a relaxing evening with air conditioning and poetry, watching your favorite writers read your favorite poems for free, all from the comfort of your own home! (Pajamas not included.)
Poets in Pajamas (PiP) is a live, bi-weekly, online reading series presented by Sundress Publications. We feature talented, diverse writers (not limited to poetry) from around the world and connect them to readers. Hear your favorite poems and ask the writer questions, all from the comfort of your PJ’s.
Our next episode will air on Sunday, July 7, at 7pm EST, featuring Malcolm Friend. On behalf of Sundress Publications, Anna Black will host. Prepare your questions for the author and attend by coming to our Facebook page: facebook.com/poetsinpajamas
Malcolm Friend is a poet originally from the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle, WA. He received his BA from Vanderbilt University and his MFA from the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of the chapbook mxd kd mixtape (Glass Poetry, 2017) and the full length collection Our Bruises Kept Singing Purple (Inlandia Books, 2018), selected by Cynthia Arrieu-King as the winner of the 2017 Hillary Gravendyk Prize. He currently serves as a Poetry Editor for FreezeRay Poetry.
Host and curator, Anna Black is a twice awarded Virginia G. Piper global teaching and research fellow who received her MFA at ASU. More about Black at @bylineblack and bylineblack.com.
The readings occur on PiP’s Facebook page every other Sunday at 7PM EST/4PMPST. The selected poet will read for about 15 minutes, and will then follow up with a 10-15 minute audience Q&A. The full schedule is available at the website below. A 501(c)3 non-profit literary press collective founded in 2000, Sundress Publications is an entirely volunteer-run press than publishes chapbooks and full-length collections in both print and digital formats, and hosts numerous literary journals, an online reading series, and the Best of the Net Anthology.
