5:00 pm: POETS AND WRITERS ROUNDTABLE5:00 pm: POETS AND WRITERS ROUNDTABLE – Join us from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 4 for a free, informal roundtable meeting at the Garcia Center for the Arts in San Bernardino, hosted by the Readings/Workshops arm of Poets & Writers Magazine. This is a great way to connect with fellow presenters, presses, teachers, and writers. Roundtable Meetings bring together people from all areas of the literary community to exchange ideas, news, and resources. It’s also a chance to learn about the Poets & Writers nonprofit organization and how our Readings/Workshops program might support your literary events. Also, we will be holding a formal ribbon cutting ceremony for the new 400-volume Inlandia Poetry Library, donated by Inlandia Literary Laureate Nikia Chaney. |

6:00 pm: CELLAR DOOR BOOKS THINK TANK SERIES6:00 pm: CELLAR DOOR BOOKS THINK TANK SERIES – On April 23, as part of Cellar Door Books’ Think Tank series, join nonfiction writers Jo Scott-Coe and Larry Behrendt for a discussion on Christianity. Scott-Coe and Behrendt were both driven by a curiosity about Christianity that was occasioned by chance encounters with cultural artifacts. This curiosity about religious tradition that was intimately known yet imperfectly practiced (Scott-Coe) or completely foreign yet historically intriguing (Behrendt) caused them both to embark on quests that became progressively richer and more complicated. Both journeys resulted in years of research and writing, culminating in two books: “MASS: A Sniper, a Father, and a Priest” and “SACRED DISSONANCE.” |
